1910’s America in color

These are not tinted, but actual color photographs taken during the 1910’s, using the expensive and difficult Autochrome method. We’re not used to seeing color photos much earlier than the 1940’s, so these are spectacular. The past goes from seeming like a distant black and white world, to a place so vibrant and real, you can imagine yourself being in the room with them. Suddenly the past doesn’t feel so far away.
