I just love that among Manolo’s epic ancestors, the coolest were these soldaderas.
The Mexican Revolution was a crazy time, where a lot of norms went sideways. The most obvious example is despite the very patriarchal mexican culture, female soldiers and army members are recognized as critical heroes who made victory possible. Great nod by the filmmakers here.
